The poorest elementary schools in the region helped raised money for the Haiti tragedy of the last week’s earthquake. The students from Campestre Elementary Schoolgot together to raise money and went around the area and knocked on doors and waited outside the Big 8 store holding jars to raise money. The children collected thousands of pennies and much more. The school principal Isabel Andresen said that It was hard to believe that the, school with the highest percentage of children receiving free lunch and reduced meals could raise more than $1,000. According to the news over the earthquake of January 12 destroyed entire neighborhoods and an estimated toll of 200,000 thousand deaths. This is very important to do a fundraiser to help people get back to their normal life’s is an important thing to do because what if things like that happen in the US we are going to need help and by helping others it builds bonds of friendships between countries and it is also important because innocent people that had valuable stuff and family members is gone forever and people are in need of money and most important for food and a shelter where they can live.
